CAPE MAY POINT — Mayor Malcolm Fraser told commissioners at a July 26 meeting he has spoken with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding installing restrooms near the beaches. He suggested a parcel of land at St. Peter’s Beach. The mayor said the borough owns two lots to the right of the beach entranceway that would be large enough to accommodate the building. He said it would not be the best location for handicapped access. Fraser said restrooms are required for beaches that have received funding for beach renourishment projects. Fraser said Coral Avenue already offers handicapped access and would be a better location for ADA compliance and give the borough the best chance for grant funding. He suggested a restroom complex on the western side of the handicapped walkway, which would be optimal for direct water/sewer connections. Fraser said he had the proposal approved by the Army Corp of Engineers and would seek further approvals from the Green Acres program.
