Woman Dies in Parkway Crash

BURLEIGH – A Ventnor woman died in a two-car crash on the Garden State Parkway southbound at mile marker 7.3 in Burleigh at 7:36 a.m. Oct. 30.
Lt. Ted Schafer, New Jersey State Police, said preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 Dodge Charger, driven by Jacob Harrison, 22, of Whitesboro, made vehicle contact with the rear of a 1998 Toyota Sienna minivan, driven by Donato Duvernay-Maldonado, 45, of Atlantic City. 
The Toyota rolled over and came to rest in the southbound lane of travel. Both vehicles were traveling southbound.    
Xenia Flores, 53, a passenger in the Toyota, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased. 
According to Schafer, there were two people in the Dodge and six people in the Toyota. Four suffered moderate injuries and two suffered minor injuries. Their identities and injuries are unknown.  
The road and weather conditions were rainy and wet, Schafer said. 
Middle Township Police Department, Middle Township EMS (emergency medical services), and Court House Fire Company No. 1 assisted on scene. 
The roadway was closed for four hours during the crash investigation. Traffic was diverted to Route 9 South at Exit 9.
No charges have been filed at this time.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
