Woman Charged in 5-car Crash

NORTH CAPE MAY – On Feb. 13, at approximately 11:46 a.m., Lower Township Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of Bayshore Road and Ferry Road (US Route 9) in North Cape May for the report of a multi-vehicle crash.  
According to a release, upon arrival on scene, officers found a total of five vehicles in the area of the intersection with two being disabled in the middle of the roadway.
Police investigation revealed that a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, black in color, had struck four other vehicles that were stopped in traffic at the traffic light heading southbound on Bayshore Road. The vehicle was operated by Crystal Nace, 35, of Villas.
Nace was the only occupant injured in the crash, and refused the aid of the Lower Township Rescue Squad while on scene.  
Subsequent to further investigation, Nace was placed under arrest for driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She was transported to the Lower Township Police Department for processing.
After necessary processing, she was released and issued five additional summonses in addition to the DUI. This matter is pending court.  
This incident was investigated by Patrolman Jordan Saini and Patrol Officer Kaitlin Black of the Lower Township Police Department, with assistance from the Lower Township Rescue Squad.
The individual(s) listed is/are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
