In New Jersey there are an average 150 pedestrian fatalities a year. To help combat this problem, New Jersey recently enacted a change to the pedestrian law. Whereas, a driver has to come to a complete stop when approaching a pedestrian in a crosswalk, whether the crosswalk is marked or unmarked. This change to the law went into effect April 1, 2010.
