MAMORA– An Upper Township man remains in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital in Camden following a serious two vehicle crash in Marmora on Sunday afternoon.
The accident involved a collision between a blue Chevy Trailblazer SUV driven by Matthew Flynn, 20, of Upper Township, and a white Ford box truck driven by Manoa Balbuena-Santana, 30, of Pleasantville.
The crash occurred Sunday morning at 6:41 a.m., on Roosevelt Boulevard near Pappy’s Restaurant.
According to police, Flynn was traveling east on Roosevelt Boulevard when for unknown reasons, he crossed into the westbound lane and struck the box truck.
Flynn was airlifted to the trauma unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City in critical condition. State police said he was then transfered to Cooper University Hospital in Camden Sunday afternoon were he remains in critical condition Monday afternoon, according to hospital spokeswoman Sharon Clark.
Balbuena-Santana and his juvenile passenger were taken to Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point by Upper Township Rescue Squad.
The state police Crime Scene Unit and Fatal Accident Investigation Unit was called to the scene to investigate the crash due to the severity of Flynn’s injuries.
Roosevelt Boulevard was closed by the Marmora fire department to the 34th Street entrance to Ocean City while detectives investigated the crash.
The rodway was reopened to one lane of travel at 9:42 a.m.
