UPDATE: Two-Year-Old Injured in Three Car Accident

COURT HOUSE — A 2-year-old child as well as several adults were injured in a three-car accident at the intersection of Court House-South Dennisville Road and Goshen-Swainton Road. The accident occurred Tue., May 15 at 7:31 a.m.
According to Middle Township police, upon their arrival they found three vehicles in the roadway with “multiple people injured from the crash.”
An investigation into the accident revealed a vehicle, driven by Natasha Espada, 22, of Woodbine, was passing vehicles in a no passing zone. When Espada returned to her lane of travel, she struck a vehicle being driven by Melissa Loftus, 43, of Court House. Loftus’ vehicle was stopped, waiting to make a left turn onto Goshen-Swainton Road.
After Loftus’ vehicle was struck, it was pushed into a vehicle driven by Tara Phillips, 41, of South Dennis. Phillips’ vehicle was traveling south on Court House-South Dennisville Road.
All occupants of the involved vehicles were transported to Cape Regional Medical Center, except for a 2-year-old child who was transported to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center for treatment of a head injury. According to police, the child was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Espada. The child’s condition was listed as good.
Responding to the scene were Middle Township Police, Middle Township Rescue, Court House Volunteer Fire Department, Stone Harbor Rescue, Rio Grande Rescue and Belle Plain Rescue.
The crash remains under investigation by Ptlm. Julio Ruiz.
