UPDATE: Two Motorcyclist Injured, One Seriously in Route 9 Crash

DENNIS TOWNSHIP– Two motorcyclist were injured, one seriously here on Route 9 in front of the Avalon campground in a three vehicle crash. The crash occurred at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 24.
John A. Valerio Jr., 51, of Hammonton was airlifted to the trauma unit at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City by Medevac 5. State Police said the man suffered a head injury. His condition is serious but stable.
James Damiano, 46, of Monroe Township was taken to Cape Regional Medial Center with non life-threating injuries, police said.
State Police said Damiano and Valerio were traveling northbound on Route 9 when they hit a car driven by Judith Coupe, 52, of Warminster, Pa.
Coupe was traveling north on Route 9 when she pulled over to make a U-turn. She was turning across the northbound lane to head southbound when the motorcyclists ran into her.
State Police called the Fatal Accident Investigation Unit to the scene as a precaution. A section of Route 9 was closed for approximately three hours as detectives investigated the crash.
Belleplain Emergency Corps, Atlanticare paramedics and the Ocean View fire department responded to the crash.
The crash is under investigation by Trooper Davern.
