BURLEIGH– A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of one person and seriously injured another.
Police, fire and EMS crews responded to the scene here at 139 Indian Trail Road Sunday, Nov. 16 around 8:25 p.m.
Two pickup trucks remained in the roadway after the crash. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the deceased driver as Denise Cianchetta.
According to police, Cianchetta, 46, was traveling east when Harold Becica, 47, of Villas, traveling west crossed into the eastbound lane causing a head on collision.
Bystanders at the scene of the accident said Cianchetta lived on Indian Trail Road with her two children.
Becica was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center by South Star Medevac. His condition was unknown.
According to bystanders, they heard a loud crash and ran to investigate.
“We heard the sound and we knew right away it was a crash,” one witness said.
Neighbors went out of their homes to discover the pickup truck and driver were known to them, and the scene became extremely emotional.

Middle Township Corporal Mike Ellas and Patrolman Leonard Larkin investigated the crash. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation team is continuing the investigation.
The investigation continues and charges are pending, the release stated.
Also responding to the scene were the township’s Major Crimes and Crash units, Rio Grande Rescue, Cape May County Fire Police, and the Rio Grande and Court House Fire Departments.
