MARMORA– One person is dead following a collision between a tractor-trailer and a car Saturday afternoon.
According to state police 80-year-old Joan Ponton of Ocean City was driving eastbound on Tuckahoe Road in Marmora, when her Mercury Grand Marquee crossed the center line of the road and collided with the front axel on the driver’s side of a tractor-trailer.
Ponton was pronounced dead at 3:50 p.m.
The tractor trailer was traveling westbound and had two passengers. The driver, 25-year-old Thomas Dittus Junior of Cedarville and the passenger, 30-year-old Christie Soldyn of Frankenville were not injured.
The official cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The Upper Township Rescue Squad, Marmora Fire Department and AtlantiCare paramedics responded to the scene with troopers from the Woodbine station.
