UPDATE: Indian Trail Road Crash Injures Five

BURLEIGH — On May 30, at about 4:40 p.m. the Middle Township Police Department received a report of a two car crash, involving a pedestrian on Indian Trail Road.
Shakina Akers, 27, of Burleigh was headed west on Indian Trail Road, stopped waiting to make a left turn into a driveway when she pulled in front of John Vlassopoulos, 34, of Villas, who was traveling east on Indian Trail Road, according to police.
After the initial impact, the vehicle driven by Vlassopoulos went off onto the shoulder of the road and struck a pedestrian pushing a mower. The pedestrian was identified as Stephanie Pombo, 43, of Burleigh.
John Vlassopoulos, Shakina Akers along with two juveniles in Aker’s car were transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. Pombo was airlifted to Atlantic Care Medical Center in Atlantic City.
Rio Grande Fire Company, Medics from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, and rescue squads from Middle Township, Rio Grande, and North Wildwood responded to assist with the scene.
Shakina Akers was issued a summons for failure to yield the right away.
