UPDATE: Five Injured in Route 47 Crash Sunday Afternoon

DENNISVILLE– Heavy northbound traffic came to a standstill on Route 47 Sunday afternoon when a two vehicle crash shut the roadway down for 90 minutes.
Five people were injured in crash which occurred just north of the Route 610 intersection at 3:35 p.m.
According to police a blue Nissan Altima occupied by four males and one female were traveling southbound on Route 47. The driver of the Nissan, identified as 19 year-old Christian Blaker of Wcnonah, N.J., lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason and entered the opposite lane of travel, The Nissan was subsequently struck by a green Toyota Highlander driven by Elayne R. Brick of North Wales Pennsylvania. who was traveling Northbound on Route 47.
Several of the Nissan passengers had to be extricated from the car with the Jaws-of-life. The five occupants of the Nissan sustained “moderate injury”, state police said
Two were transported to the trauma unit at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City with head injuries. One teenager was taken to Cooper University Trauma Center in Camden reportedly with a broken leg and head injury. Two other patients were taken to Cape Regional Medical Center.
The Dennis Fire Department and Ocean View Fire Department responded to the scene with Belleplain Emergency Corps, Middle Township Ambulance Corps and Atlanticare paramedics.
The accident is under investigation by Trooper Guido.
