UPDATE: Driver Crashes Into Campground Fence

DIAS CREEK — Middle Township police and rescue were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident about 4:50 p.m. Mon., April 9 in which the vehicle struck the vinyl fence of Hideaway Beach Condo Campground Assn. on Route 47 north.
According to police, 78-year-old Matthias Prodoehl of North Cape May was traveling south on Route 47 when he lost control of his vehicle. The 1999 Ford SUV struck a fence when Prodoehl fell asleep at the wheel.
Prodoehl was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
He was issued a summons for careless driving.
