OCEAN CITY –– A 92-year-old pedestrian who was hit by a car in Ocean City Dec. 10 died in the hospital of his injuries early the next morning.
Frank Fetzko, of Sicklerville, died at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus after sustaining serious head injuries in the crash.
In all, three people were injured in a freak motor vehicle accident that occurred in the 700 block of Asbury Avenue.
Ocean City police responded to the scene in which three cars were involved.
The collision occurred when the operator of the initial vehicle was attempting to parallel-park on the west side of Asbury Avenue and lost control striking a parked car. After the initial hit, the vehicle continued in reverse increasing speed and struck another vehicle parked in front of 710 Asbury Ave. It finally traversed the sidewalk and came to rest after striking the front of the Sea Oats Store.
The driver of the vehicle and two pedestrians were injured and treated by the Ocean City Fire Department before being transported to area hospitals.
The driver was identified as Francis Davish, 71, of Somers Point. He was transported to Shore Memorial Hospital with moderate head injuries. His condition was listed as stable.
The pedestrians were identified as Judith Preston, 67, of Ocean City and Fetzko. They were both transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with head injuries. Preston’s condition was listed as stable, but Fetzko’s condition, prior to his death, was extremely critical.
The accident is being investigated by the Ocean City Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit and the county Prosecutor’s Fatal Crash Investigation Unit. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact police at (609) 399-9111.
