The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency.
OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Police and Fire Department personnel responded to a motor vehicle accident at 8th Street and Wesley Avenue at approximately 11:38 a.m. Jan. 9.
According to a release, preliminary investigation at the scene determined that a vehicle traveling southbound on Central Avenue navigated a turn to travel eastbound on 8th Street when the vehicle struck a pedestrian crossing the street.
The pedestrian, Elizabeth Goodwin, 82, of Seaville, was taken to the Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. Goodwin died as a result of the accident.
The driver of the vehicle, Michael Heston, 26, of Sweetwater, remained on the scene following the accident. He has not been charged at this time.
The investigation is ongoing and continues to be investigated by the Ocean City Police Traffic Safety Unit and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.
