Two-Vehicle Tuckahoe Crash Investigated

By Al Campbell

TUCKAHOE — A two-vehicle accident occurred March 14 about 7 p.m. at the intersection of Route 50 and 610, Dennisville-Petersburg Road.
Tuckahoe Fire Department, Upper Township Rescue Squad and New Jersey State Police responded to the crash scene. Involved was a Snap-on Tool truck and sport utility vehicle. The SUV came to rest in a wooded area off the roadway.
According to State Police, the truck, operated by Stephen Saylor, 64, of Sea Isle City, reportedly failed to stop and struck the SUV driven by Clifford Kneipp, 70.
First responders reported that one victim was unconscious. Emergency medical service personnel requested paramedics to the scene and a Medevac to fly. South Star helicopter was given the go-ahead, then in mid flight had to abort due to worsening weather conditions in the area.
The accident is under investigation by troopers at the Woodbine Station. Kneipp’s vehicle rolled over and trapped him. He was freed by rescuers and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Trauma Division.
Saylor was uninjured. He was issued a ticket for failure to observe a traffic signal.
