Two Days, Two Rollovers

This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
FISHING CREEK – Officers from Lower Township Police Department responded to a one-car motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Breakwater Road and Fishing Creek Road in Fishing Creek July 10 at approximately 2:23 p.m.
Upon police arrival, they found a 2002 Nissan Sentra, had crossed the center line and ran off the roadway to the left while traveling West on Breakwater Road. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a curb, a road sign and an electric traffic signal control box, before coming to a final rest on its driver’s side.
The driver, a 17-year-old male juvenile, of North Cape May, was able to free himself from the vehicle prior to police arrival. He sustained no visible injuries, yet was flown by helicopter to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for precautionary measures. The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Steven Flitcroft.
A second rollover crash occurred July 11 at approximately 6:49 a.m. in the 400 block Seashore Road in Erma. This investigation revealed that a 2008 Jeep Compass had crossed the center line and ran off the roadway while traveling South on Seashore Road. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a tree and a parked, unoccupied front-end loader, before coming to final rest on its passenger side. 
The driver, Domitila Perez, 26, of Wildwood, was able to free herself from the vehicle prior to police arrival. Perez sustained no visible injuries and signed a refusal for medical treatment. She was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain lane, unlicensed driver and failure to exhibit documents.  The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Eric Coombs.
Lower Township Police Department urges all motorists to obey all traffic laws including, but not limited to, speed limits, cell phone use, passing zones, stop signs and traffic signals. Motorists are also urged to report aggressive drivers by pulling over and dialing 911.  
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
