PETERSBURG– No one was injured Saturday night when a tractor trailer collided with a vehicle making a illegal U-turn on Tuckahoe Road, state police said.
Both vehicles were traveling north on Tuckahoe Road when the driver of the pick-up truck put his right turn signal on just before the intersection with Petersburg Road and then abruptly made a U-turn.
State Police on scene said the tractor trailer traveling at 40 mph was unable to avoid the collision with the pick-up. The tractor trailer hit the driver’s side of the pickup in a t-bone like collision and pushed the pickup through the intersection.
The Tuckahoe Fire Department and Upper Township Rescue Squad were dispatched to the scene. Both drivers refused to be transported to the hospital.
Firefighters contained an oil leak from the tractor trailer which ruptured its oil pan in the collision.
Traffic was reduced to one lane for about one hour as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
State Police said the driver of the pick-up truck caused the crash and was issued a citation for careless driving.
