COURT HOUSE — According to N.J. State Police statistics, Cape May County has recorded nine fatalities from nine vehicular accidents since Jan. 1. Statewide, in that time period, there have been 406 fatalities from 381 accidents.
Upper and Middle townships had four each of those fatalities, Dennis Township recorded one.
Fatalities in Upper Township were recorded:
• Jan. 24, 8:28 a.m., Milepost 21, northbound, Garden State Parkway.
• Jan. 31, 9:17 a.m., Route 49 westbound Milepost 50.5 at CR 548.
• March 6, 4:32 p.m., Milepost 20.2 southbound, Garden State Parkway.
• June 30, 7:46 p.m. Milepost 20.2 northbound, Garden State Parkway.
Fatalities in Middle Township were recorded:
• April 12, 11:47 a.m., Route 9 northbound, Milepost 13.
• April 30, 9:57 a.m., Route 47, northbound Milepost 7.7.
• July 5, 6:37 p.m., Fulling Mill Road.
• July 13, 2:43 p.m., Route 47, Rio Grande.
Fatality in Dennis Township was recorded:
• March 3, 4:04 p.m. Route 47, southbound Milepost 17.1.
In 2006, there were 15 fatalities that resulted from 14 accidents in the county.
Of those deaths, eight were in Middle Township, three in Upper Township, two in Lower Township and one each in Dennis Township and Wildwood.
