By Press Release

DIAS CREEK – Middle Township Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Route 47 in Dias Creek at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sept. 6.
Upon arrival, officers found a Dodge R25 pickup truck, driven by Jason Adams, 18, of Goshen had run off the roadway as it was travelling north and struck a tree.
According to a release, a 16-year-old juvenile passenger was entrapped in the vehicle. Court House Fire Company responded and used the Jaws of Life to extract the juvenile.
Both Adams and the juvenile were transported by Middle Township EMS (emergency medical services); Adams to Cape Regional Medical Center and the juvenile to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, with multiple non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Capt. William Adams of Middle Township Police Department, police were never informed that the passenger was taken to the ICU (intensive care unit). Under HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996), no patient information is allowed to be disseminated without the patient’s approval.
The preliminary investigation revealed unsafe speed as the main contributing factor to the accident. Adams was issued a summons for failure to maintain lane.
Green Creek Fire Company and the Cape May County Fire Police also assisted on scene.
