Teen Bicyclist Injured in Vehicle Crash

The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency.
VILLAS – Lower Township police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Harvard and East Pacific avenues Sept. 13, at about 5:44 p.m., for the report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedal cyclist and a vehicle.
Officers arrived and immediately requested the assistance of the Lower Township Rescue Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics due to head trauma suffered by the pedal cyclist.  
During the investigation, officers determined the pedal cyclist was a 15-year-old male from Villas.
The juvenile’s parents were notified of the accident and escorted to the scene.
Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle, 65 year-old Vincent Pale, of Villas. The vehicle is owned by his father with the same name, according to police.
He stated he was traveling north on Harvard Avenue when the pedal cyclist, who was going east on East Pacific Avenue, failed to stop and yield at the stop sign located at the intersection of East Pacificand Harvard avenues and struck the driver side of his vehicle.
The pedal cyclist was ejected from his bicycle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The juvenile pedal cyclist was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division by Lower Township Rescue, with the assistance of AtlantiCare Paramedics.
The incident is being investigated by Patrolman Coombs of the Lower Township Police Department.
