SUV Strikes N. Cape May House

By Press Release

NORTH CAPE MAY – At approximately 7:50 a.m. Feb. 5, the Lower Township Police Department, Town Bank Fire Department, and Lower Township Rescue responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a sport-utility vehicle that struck a residence in the 100 block of Pontaxit Avenue.
Officers determined that all residents were out of the house and there were no reported injuries.
The sole occupant and driver of the vehicle, Jesse Shaw, 22, of  Villas, was uninjured and able to leave the vehicle prior to police arrival.
Preliminary investigation revealed Shaw’s vehicle had first struck a parked motor vehicle, which caused the right front wheel assembly to dislodge from the vehicle.
The vehicle then veered off the road to the right, at the corner of Pontaxit Avenue and Kechemeche Street, driving up on the yard and struck the residence causing visible damage to the foundation.
Lower Township Building Inspector Gary Playford responded  and deemed the residence safe for occupancy.
The incident remains under investigation by Patrol Officer Jonathan Scheck.
