Snow Keeps Lower Police Busy

By Herald Staff

ERMA — The Lower Township Police Department was kept busy during the recent snow storm responding to traffic related issues, including cars sliding off the road and striking objects and motor vehicle accidents.
This included a roll over accident that occurred on Sunday evening at approximately 7:30 pm on Breakwater Road where firefighters had to cut the roof from a vehicle to remove the occupants including a child in a car seat.
There were also two reported motor vehicle accidents Monday on the George Redding Bridge as a result of weather conditions, including a head on accident with no reported injuries and a rear end collision with injuries where one of the drivers fled the scene and was then apprehended with the assistance of the Wildwood Police Department.
That driver, Michael DeWeese, 26 years old, of North Wildwood, was issued summons by Lower Township Police for Careless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident resulting in Injury and Failure to Report an Accident.
