VINELAND — The “South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance” was scheduled to debut its most recent “Anti- Alcohol” project in DVD documentary format, at the Cumberland County Community College in Vineland on Tues., Oct. 19, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.
The newest project is a follow-up to the Matthew Maher “I’m That Guy” presentations that were made at numerous High Schools and local colleges across southern New Jersey, in the fall of 2009.
Maher, who graduated from Middle Township High School, was involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash on the Atlantic City Expressway in March of 2009. He pled guilty to “Death by Auto” and “DUI”, and was sentenced to 5 ½ years in a New Jersey prison in January of 2010.
Maher, a professional soccer player, shared his story with thousands of students in an effort to educate and prevent others from making the same life-changing, bad decisions that he made on that fateful March 7, 2009 morning.
The documentary, produced by “The South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance” follows Maher during the time he gave some 34 presentations, and including his Sentencing Hearing in Atlantic County Superior Court on Jan. 7, 2010. The documentary includes interviews with family members and traffic safety specialists.
