Rt. 55 Crash Claims Sea Isle Man’s Life

VINELAND – A Sea Isle City man died March 21 after colliding with a dump truck that was putting salt down on Route 55, according to a report on nj.com.
Michael Bennett, 32, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 2:38 a.m. 
Bennett was driving a 2015 Audi A3 southbound on Route 55 around mile marker 33 at 1:50 a.m. when he struck the salt truck, according to the report.
Police told nj.com Bennett failed to slow down or take evasive action.
The salt truck was traveling at 25 miles per hour and had strobe lights activated as it was dispensing salt onto the road, the report continued.
Snow resulted in the road being wet at the time of the accident. 
The driver of the salt truck was transported to Inspira Medical Center in Vineland for minor injuries.
That section of Route 55 was shut down for three hours while responders operated on scene.
The accident is under investigation.
