RIO GRANDE — A Toyota RAV4 and a Hyundai collided at approximately 2:40 p.m. Friday on Route 47 near the entrance to Shannon Oaks housing development.
The collision occurred when the Hyundai attempted to pull onto Route 47 from a business road on the westbound side of Route 47. The Toyota RAV4 was pushed up onto two wheels from the force of the impact and both came to a stop off to the side of Route 47 alongside the shoulder.
The accident delayed heavy traffic heading into and out of Cape May County resort communities along Route 47 for approximately 20 minutes.
The driver of the Hyundai appeared to sustain injuries that required medical attention.
A passenger in the Hyundai, along with the driver and a passenger in the Toyota RAV4, were alert and conscious. They appeared not to be seeking medical attention.
Middle Township police and rescue responded to the scene. No other information was available.
