BELLEPLAIN – A man died in a head-on motor vehicle crash on Rt. 347 at milepost 1.4 in Belleplain at 5:32 p.m. July 16.
Trooper Alejandro Goez said a Volkswagen, driven by Andrew Lill, 49, of West Chester, Pa., traveling southbound, crossed over into the northbound lane and struck the front of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by Charles Simmerman, 59, of Monroeville. The Volkswagon continued off the roadway, struck multiple trees, and overturned.
Simmerman sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
Lill suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – City Campus.
At this time, no charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
