Rio Grande Man Killed in Accident

DENNISVILLE — A Rio Grande man was killed July 17 at 8:23 a.m. when his car hit a tree on the Garden State Parkway.
Brian Kern, 46, was traveling south on the Parkway when his car left the road at mile marker 15.9. “He ran off the road for some reason and hit a tree,” said Sgt. Kohlhepp of the NJ State Police.
Emergency medical personnel from Rio Grande and Belleplain, as well as Atlanticare Regional Medical Center paramedics and fire personnel from the Ocean View fire department all responded to the scene to assist, according to Kohlhepp. Kern was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was performed at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point.
The accident remains under investigation. Anyone who may have information or who may have witnessed the accident is encouraged to contact the Bass River Barracks of the NJ State Police at 609-296-0503.
