By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE – A Court House bicyclist was injured Sept. 3 in a 10:29 a.m. accident on Route 9 in front of the post office.
According to a Middle Township police release, a call was received at 10:29 a.m. for police and rescue at the scene of a motor vehicle accident that also involved a bicyclist.
When emergency units arrived, they found that a U.S. Postal Service truck, being operated by Karl Umsheid, 50, of North Cape May, was attempting to exit a driveway, located across from the areas of the Court House Post Office.
A bicyclist, identified as Raymond Batz, 60, of Court House was traveling south on the northbound sidewalk.
Umsheid began to pull out of the driveway when his truck struck the bicyclist.
Rescue units from Middle Township Rescue Squad and paramedics from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center treated Batz, who was conscious, and who suffered a head injury.
He was later flown to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Trauma Unit in Atlantic City for evaluation.
The investigation is continuing, and motor vehicle summonses are pending.
