COURT HOUSE — A seizure was what caused a Galloway Township man to lose control of his sedan on the Garden State Parkway at 8:50 p.m., according to State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones.
Robert Dewinton, 43, of Galloway Township was traveling south on the parkway when he hit a guardrail then struck several other cars causing chain reaction collisions, Jones Said.
A total of six vehicles were involved in the crash, according to Jones.
Six people were treated for injuries ranging from minor to serious. Four people were transported to Cape Regional Medical Center. Two people Rochelle Tarlo, 68, of P.a. and Dewinton were airlifted to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center by South Star and Medevac 5.
The crash caused major delays for miles as heavy southbound shore traffic was brought to a stand still.
Members of the state police fatal accident investigation unit investigated the crash with troopers from the Bass River station.
Middle Township Police, Middle Township Fire and EMS units also assisted.
The Cape May County Fire Police were called to direct traffic on Avalon Boulevard and Stone Harbor Boulevard.
