Police Release Preliminary Findings on Goshen Crash

COURT HOUSE– Police released preliminary findings today in the Dec. 22, crash that sent three area residents to the trauma center in Atlantic City.
Police said a Ford Mustang driven by Casimir Rupinski III, 38, of North Cape May was traveling north on Route 47 when he swerved into the south bound lane for no apparent reason, striking head-on a southbound Mercedes driven by Larry Hummel, 70, of Town Bank.
The Mercedes was pushed back approximately 20 feet from the impact. The Mustang stopped just about at the point of impact rotating to face a southerly direction.
Hummel who was trapped in his car for over 45 minutes and a passenger in the Mustang identified as Rebecca Alexander, 38 of Lower Township were critically injured in the crash. All three involved had to be airlifted from the scene.
Rupinski was charged with Failure to maintain a lane, and Reckless driving.
The crash remains under investigation by Officer Steve Novsak.
