Police Charge North Cape May Woman in Route 47 Crash

DIAS CREEK– On Sunday, Sept 27 at 3:32 p.m. Middle Township Police Department received a call of a single motor vehicle crash into pole on Route 47 at the intersection of Hand Ave.
Upon arrival, Middle Twp. Police Officers spoke with Ralph Colella 47 of North Cape May who stated that he was driving and fell asleep. The vehicle was traveling North on Route 47 and left the road on the right side at Pantry 1 Market struck a utility pole, crossed Hand Avenue and stopped on the North side of Hand Avenue.
Ralph Colella had a serious laceration to his nose and was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center. Kimberly Colella 37 also of North Cape May who was not injured stated that Ralph was driving. The investigation uncovered inconsistencies in their statements along with blood evidence in the vehicle, which lead police to believe that Kimberly Colella was driving. Both Ralph and Kimberly Colella later admitted that Kimberly was driving.
Kimberly Colella has never been licensed to drive in any state. Kimberly Colella was issued summonses for Careless Driving, Unlicensed Driver, Obstructed View of her Windshield and Failure to Maintain Lane.
