Police Charge DWI, Leaving the Scene

By Herald Staff

ERMA — On Saturday July 11 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Middle Township police advised Lower Township police of a hit arid run accident that just occurred in the area of Little Danny’s Ice Cream Stand at Route 47 and Bayshore Roads.
The driver fled the area southbound on Bayshore Road operating a black pick up truck with substantial damage. A short time later, a witness to the accident advised police that he had followed the pick up to the Villas WaWa parking lot.
Patrol Officer Eric Coombs responded and determined that the vehicle was in fact involved in the accident in Middle Township. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and the driver appeared to be obviously highly intoxicated. The driver, Guy R. Sessamen, 41, of Seaview, was arrested for DWI. Middle Township Police also charged Sessamen with leaving the scene and failure to report an accident along with other motor vehicle violations.
An Alcotest administered by the Lower Township police determined that Sessamen’s Blood Alcohol Content was over three times the legal limit. Due to his high alcohol content, Sessamen was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
