MARMORA – Troopers from the Woodbine Station were detailed to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving two motor vehicles and a pedestrian on County Route 631 at County Road 667 (Stagecoach Road), milepost 5.1 in Upper Township Jan. 12.
A white 1994 Honda Accord was traveling W/13 on CR-631 as a pedestrian was crossing the roadway headed north towards CR-667. Subsequently the pedestrian was struck sustaining life-threatening injuries and remained in the westbound lane of travel. As the driver of the Honda pulled off the roadway to seek assistance, a second motor vehicle, a Silver Dodge Wagon traveling eastbound on CR-631 struck the pedestrian a second time. There was no overhead lighting illuminating the roadway in the area of the crash and it was raining.
The driver of the Honda was treated for minor injuries at the scene and the driver of the Dodge refused medical treatment. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene at 10:38 p.m. and the next of kin was immediately notified. The deceased was identified as Susan Cepp, 55, of Marmora.
Responding units included: Marmora Volunteer Fire Department, Upper Township EMS, NJSP Crime Scene Investigation – South Unit, and NJSP Fatal Accident Investigation – South Unit.
At this point, no criminal charges have been filed, and this investigation is still ongoing.
