STONE HARBOR- On June 3 around 5:30 p.m. Middle Township EMS and Atlanticare Paramedics responded to Stone Harbor Marina for a report of an inbound vessel off the coast of Stone Harbor that had a victim from a boating accident.
According to Sgt. Stephen Jones, a State Police spokesman, the State Police Marine Services Bureau was notified of the accident at 6:01 p.m. Troopers responded to the scene to investigate the incident.
The investigation revealed that a boat was unsafely towing two people on an inter-tube. The tube drifted outside the boat’s wake and struck a day marker.
The boat then came around and picked up the riders and headed to shore with one of the riders injured, said Jones.
Medevac 5 landed at the Cape May Armory and transported the victim, reported to be a 19 year-old-male, in stable condition to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center City Trauma Division.
The operator of the Boat was charged with improper towing of a skier, according to Jones.
