NORTH CAPE MAY – A 70-year-old North Cape May woman died as a result of injuries sustained in an Oct. 23 motor vehicle crash.
According to a release, Lower Township police responded to a reported motor vehicle crash that occurred on Townbank Road in North Cape May, at about 1:08 p.m.
The police investigation revealed Elizabeth A. Caulkins, of North Cape May, was driving a red 2013 Ford Focus eastbound on Townbank Road in the area of Sheriff Taylor Boulevard, when she lost control of her vehicle.
She crossed the center lane before sideswiping an oncoming vehicle and then struck a utility pole.
Caulkins was treated at the scene for life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Members of the Lower Township Police Administration, Patrol, and Detective divisions responded.
This crash investigation was conducted with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, whose members were on scene.
