GALLOWAY — Two county residents were seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Galloway Township on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 6:01 p.m.
Barbara Ridgeway, 73, of North Cape May, was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical in Atlantic City by South Star medevac. The flight crew reported her in critical condition with multiple injuries to her chest and legs.
Ridgeway’s passenger, Ruth Arbelo, 80, of Villas, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Mainland Campus by Galloway Township Ambulance Squad. She is listed in good condition according to a hospital spokesperson.
Both Ridgeway and Arbelo had to be extricated from their car by the Pomona Fire Department.
According to police, David T. Harrah, 23, of Galloway, struck Ridgeway’s car as she tried to turn left onto Route 30 from Jimmie Leeds Road. Harraah, who was not injured, had been westbound at the time and had a stop sign.
Traffic was rerouted around the crash scene for over two hours as police investigated the crash.
The crash is under investigation by, Patrolmen Bill Schroer and Greg Bollinger.
