COLD SPRING – Lower Township Police Department responded to the area of Seashore Road by the Carl T. Mitnick School for a report of a motor vehicle accident July 18. Upon arrival officers noticed two vehicles in the roadway that were involved in a head-on collision.
Investigation into the accident revealed that the driver of one vehicle, Thomas J. Fox, of Havertown Pa., was traveling southbound on Seashore Road. Fox swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic hitting an SUV transporting a family of four.
The family was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for their injuries and released.
Fox was also transported for injuries to his head.
Officers discovered alcohol in Fox’s vehicle and while talking to him they determined he was intoxicated.
Fox was charged with driving while intoxicated in a school zone, a traffic offense, two counts of assault by auto, a fourth degree crime, and other motor vehicle traffic summons.
Fox was arrested July 19 and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center with bail set at $25,000.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
