SEAVILLE – Troopers from the New Jersey State Police Woodbine Station were detailed to a fatal motor vehicle accident Oct. 24 at 9:29 a.m. involving one vehicle on Route 9 at milepost 22.5.
A silver 2003 Dodge Durango was northbound on Route 9. For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned onto the driver’s side, facing southbound.
The driver, George Montis, 61, of Villas, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 10:35 a.m.
Responding units included Seaville Volunteer Fire Company, Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company, Upper Township EMS, AtlantiCare Paramedics, New Jersey State Police Crime Scene Investigation – South Unit, and New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Investigation – South Unit.
The accident is under investigation by State Police.

Seaville Fire and Upper Township EMS were dispatched to the area of the 3100 Block of Route 9 for a motor vehicle crash, reported overturned, with possible entrapment at 9:28 a.m. Oct. 24, according to Seaville Fire Rescue’s Facebook page.

Montis was driving a Dodge Durango north on Route 9 when his vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and hit a utility pole.
The accident is currently under investigation by State Police.
