VILLAS- On the morning of August 16 at approximately 10:12 am, Lower Township Police Officers responded to a call reporting that a small child was just run over by a motor vehicle in the 100 Block of East Bates Avenue, here.
Lower Township Rescue Squad and Paramedics also responded to the incident. Investigation on scene determined that a two (2) year old female child somehow managed to get out of her fenced in front yard.
According to police, the mother of the child was just pulling away from the front of her residence when she heard a thump under her vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe.
The mother immediately exited the vehicle and observed her daughter lying under the vehicle.
The Lower Township Rescue Squad transported the child to the Cape May County Airport where she was then airlifted to Cooper Medical Center in Camden.
The child suffered numerous abrasion and bruises along with a burn on her arm, but no internal injuries.
The accident was investigated by Patrolman William Barcas and Detective Edward Dougherty of the department’s Accident Investigation Unit.
