COURT HOUSE — On May 25, Middle Township Police Department responded to seven reported motor vehicle accidents, three of which occurred during the early morning hours.
The first accident was found by Patrolman Tracey Super while on patrol, at approximately 12:27 a.m. he located a motor vehicle that had struck a sign at the entrance to the Middle Township Goshen Sports Complex which is located on Goshen Road Cape May Court House.
The driver of the vehicle identified as James E Allen, 20, of Court House was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle charges.
That same morning at approximately 3:38 a.m. Middle Township Police responded to a report of a one vehicle accident on Route 9 at the intersection of Johnstown Lane, Court House.
Upon arrival it was found that a Ford Expedition operated by Caitlyn Young, 18, of North Cape May was traveling south on Route 9, lost control went off the road struck and snapped a utility pole and a street sign the vehicle then rolled over, eventually up righting itself and coming to rest in bushes.
The sole occupant the driver was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Middle Township Ambulance and Medic 9. Cape May Court House Fire Department also assisted at the scene. Investigation conducted by Patrol Officer Michelle Greenwaldt.
Police also investigated another accident this one closer to police headquarters, sometime during the early morning hours a vehicle turning off Mechanic Street onto Boyd Street lost control jumped the curb and struck the Middle Township Municipal Building.
This vehicle then fled the scene. Patrolman Dan Martin located the driver of the vehicle at approximately 12:30 p.m. May 25.
The driver of the vehicle identified as a Douglass M. Scott, 19, of Court House was issued motor vehicle summonses. Damaged to the building consisted of damaged bricks. Investigation conducted by Corporal James Dougherty.
