Mechanic Street Crash Nets DWI for Philly Man

COURT HOUSE –– Police responding to a fiery vehicle crash on East Mechanic Street here arrested the operator for DWI and drug possession around 12:25 a.m. Oct. 5.
Middle Township police officers, Corp. Jeff DeVico and Patrolman Jason Still, found that a vehicle had left left the roadway striking an iron lawn ornament and a fence and catching fire on Mechanic Street.
Officers used fire extinguishers to put out the fire and safely removed the victim from the vehicle.
Middle Township Ambulance Corps transported the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Harry J. Ross, 57, of Philadelphia, to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Court House Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
Ross was charged with DWI and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
The accident is under investigation by Patrol Officer Michelle Greenwaldt.
