House Moving Slows Avalon Blvd., Route 9 Traffic

By Al Campbell

AVALON MANOR — Middle Township police received a report at 10:28 a.m. April 24 that a house, in transit, was stuck on the small bridge on Avalon Boulevard, closest to Garden State Parkway.
Police later reported that the house was not stuck, but was moving very slowly, and traffic is backed up about three-quarters of a mile.
The house was headed toward Route 9, Swainton, and police were preparing to stop traffic when the structure got to that intersection. It will turn north on Route 9, then will travel up Route 9 and turn onto Route 550.
