Hit and Run Victim Hospitalized

WEST CAPE MAY –– On June 9 at approximately 10:09 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle on Broadway at 5th Avenue here.
The pedestrian was struck while standing on the sidewalk when a 2001 Honda Civic driven by Monica Lawler, of Cape May, left the roadway. A street sign was also demolished during the incident.
The victim was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center and later transferred to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Trauma Unit. Lawler has been charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and careless driving.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in this accident.
The accident is under investigation by Patrolmen Ken Cooper and Tom Toland as well as Detective Dekon Fashaw of the Cape May Police Department.
