COURT HOUSE— While investigators try to piece together the cause of the crash that claimed the life of 17-year-old Kevin Lamb, his closest friends gathered at a Court House home Monday (Dec. 28) night to remember the laughter for which he was known.
“He was the kid that made everyone laugh,” said Josh Johnson, 17, a lifelong friend and classmate of Lamb’s. “He was always telling a joke, always doing something ridiculous to make us laugh. Kevin did not even have one enemy, he was friends with everyone.” said Johnson.
Lamb enjoyed studying culinary arts, according to his cousin Matt Rixey, 17. Rixey said Lamb received a scholarship to La Roche College in Pittsburgh.
Lamb played soccer and was on the track team at the Cape May County Technical High School, Rixey said.
Lamb loved to rap.
“He had notebooks full of rap songs he wrote,” said Rixey. Lamb’s Myspace page had several rap songs listed on his play list performed by himself, his quote “before doing anything, how will it benefit tomorrow.”
Rixey said his cousin also loved to skateboard, an activity he planned to do when he left his house just before noon on Monday, Dec. 28.
He was going to his best friend Brandon Devitt’s house in the Del Haven section of Middle Township to skateboard when he was killed, just a half mile from his home. The 17-year-old Devitt, who was too upset to talk, was with friends remembering his friend that was taken so suddenly.
Ashley Meehan, 17, setup a Facebook page to remember Lamb who took a culinary class with her. The group had over 400 members’ just hours after it was created. Meehan said Lamb was “full of life.”
“I just wanted to do something so everyone could remember him and share their memories,” she said. Meehan posted a photo of Lamb and his friend Sarah Dever, 17, that she took on her cell phone.
Lamb was also remembered at the Court House Acme were he worked. Assistant Manager John McDonald said Lamb was “a great kid.”
“He was always prompt for work, he always did what we asked him to do, he never told us no. We’re all in shock, we are all going to miss him.” he said.
