Freeholder’s Son Dies in Crash

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. – According to a report in the Battle Creek Enquirer July 6, Christopher Thornton, 56, of Battle Creek died in a July 5 crash reported at 10:28 a.m. on Main Street at West Kingman Avenue. Thornton was the son of Gerald M. Thornton, Cape May County freeholder director. Police said Thornton was riding northbound when his motorcycle hit a curb and crashed off the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Thornton was riding alone, and no other vehicles were involved.
