BELLEPLAIN — On Oct. 21, at about 1:17 p.m., N.J. State Police responded to Weatherby Road, two miles west of CR 608 for a report of a motor vehicle accident.
Whn they arrived, they found motorcyclist Jeremy R. Phelon, 23, of St. Augustine, Fla., who had been traveling eastbound on CR 548, had gone down while trying to avoid a collision with an animal.
His motorcycle crossed onto the eastbound shoulder and intro the eastbound berm. He was thrown from the motorcycle.
That caused him to sustain moderate, non-life-threatening injuries, according to state police.
He was flown to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division by South Star.*
Belleplain Emergency Corps requested a medevac helicopter.
South Star responded to the landing zone at the Belleplain Fire Tower to airlift the victim. Belleplain Volunteer Fire Department was also on scene to assist with the rescue.
The case was being investigated by Trooper Lynch of Woodbine State Police.
