Firefighters Free Plumber from Drain

By Herald Staff

NORTH CAPE MAY — Lower Township police received a 911 call on Monday, March 23 from a plumber who was caught by his own equipment while working to clear a drain at the Channel Apartments.
Matt Cunningham, 28, a plumber with Mr. Rooter Plumbing Services out of Buena Boro, was attempting to clear a clogged drain with a snake device when the tubing wrapped around his wrist and pulled him forcibly towards the drain.
When police responded to the apartment complex, they found Cunningham was so firmly entrapped that Townbank Fire Department was called for assistance and extrication.
Firefighters freed Cunningham and Lower Township Rescue transported him to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment of hand injuries.
