RIO GRANDE — On Sunday Dec. 14 at approx. 3:36 p.m. Middle Township Police received a report of a two-vehicle accident involving a car and motorcycle in the area of Route 9 and Church Street here.
Both vehicles had been traveling southbound on Route 9.
The rider of the motorcycle, Charles Lillemon, 51, of Erma, was seriously injured when he attempted to pass a car, driven by Nancy Hartman of Gillette, while she was making a left turn.
The motorcycle and rider then slid on the roadway into a nearby utility pole.
Lillemon was flown by NJ State Police Medevac to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, city division.
Hartman refused medical treatment.
Members of the Rio Grande Fire Department, Rio Grande Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Medic 3 had responded to the scene while officers of the Lower Township Police department assisted with traffic control.
The flight crew reported thatLillemon was ejected 15 feet after colliding with a vehicle that turned in front of him.
