WOODBINE – Emergency personnel pulled an injured 24-year-old Cape May County woman out of her vehicle before it ignited into flames May 16 after a two-vehicle crash on Route 347, according to NJ.com.
At about 10 p.m. May 16, the 24-year-old woman, driving a silver 2000 Dodge Avenger, was traveling southbound on Route 347 near Hands Mill Road. While going around a bend, the woman lost control of her vehicle and entered into the northbound lane where she was subsequently struck by an oncoming white 2011 Ford Ranger, driven by a 29-year-old male.
Upon arriving on scene, Belle Plain EMS reportedly pulled the woman out of her vehicle before it caught fire.
The woman suffered a “possible serious head injury,” and was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, in Atlantic City, according to the State Police at the Port Norris Barracks.
Her current condition is not known.
Police said no summonses have been issued at this time, but that the incident remains under investigation.
