ELDORA — A passenger in a Ford Windstar was killed in an automobile accident on Sun., July 1 on Route 347.
According to a report by the NJ State Police, the accident occurred at 11:09 a.m when a white Ford F-150, traveling southbound on Route 347 crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic and struck the red Ford Windstar. All four occupants of the Windstar sustained injuries.
First responders arriving at the scene administered CPR to a female passenger who had been sitting on the right side of the back seat in the Windstar. It was determined by first responders that the woman had succumbed to her injuries and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The front passenger and left rear passenger of the Windstar suffered multiple injuries and were airlifted by Air 2 to Cooper University Medical Center and by Southstar to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center. The front passenger was found trapped inside the wreckage and was extracted by members of the Belleplain Emergency Corps using the Jaws of Life. The driver of the Windstar was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The occupants of the Ford F-150 refused medical treatment.
Responding to the accident were: The Dennis Volunteer Fire Company, Belleplain Emergency Corps, Medic 9, Atlanticare paramedics, Medic 9, Medic 14, Southern Region Medical Examiner, NJ State Police Woodbine Barracks and the NJ State Police Fatal Accident Unit
Alcohol or drug use was not a factor in the accident, according to NJ State Police. The accident remains under investigation.
